What the UK Government says about Fire Risk Assessments
As the responsible person in your business, you must carry out and regularly review a fire risk assessment of the premises. This will identify what you need to do to prevent fire and keep people safe. You must keep a written record of your fire risk assessment if your business has 5 or more people.
It can be hard to know how often ‘regularly’ is but our assessors can tell you what time frame would be appropriate for a Fire Risk Assessment review. These assessments must be carried out by a competent person with a good understanding of current fire safety legislation. If you have a very simple and small premises, it may be possible to carry out your own fire risk assessment using the guidance available from the government.
However in most cases it will be necessary to have a fire safety specialist take a look and that is where we come in.
